Our proposed Manmoel Wind site will be made up of five wind turbines, that would provide enough clean, green, renewable energy, to power over 20,000 local homes in addition to bringing a wide range of additional benefits to the local community.

The full planning application for Manmoel Wind has now been submitted to Planning & Environment Decisions Wales (PEDW).

You can view the full application here using the reference DNS/3239181.

Should you wish to find out more about our proposals, you can still access our virtual consultation room in addition to being able to download a number of useful documents at the bottom of this page.

“As society comes to terms with the immense challenges that climate change brings, the need for innovative, energy secure, integrated projects that deliver vital local economic and environmental benefits has never been greater”.

Martyn Popham, Director

Overview

“The 2020s must be the decade of action, reducing emissions more in this decade than in any previous ten year period will be an uphill challenge and we may need to take difficult choices, so we do not jeopardise the wellbeing of our future generations”

Julie James MS, Minister for Climate Change

Whilst not part of the current DNS application, our proposals for an Ebbw Vale Energy Hub would be powered directly via a private wire from Manmoel Wind.

The indicative site plan opposite gives an example of what an Energy Hub would look like, and should our Manmoel Wind application be successful we look forward to working with the local community to shape our plans and ensure maximum local benefit.

Both Manmoel Wind and the Ebbw Vale Energy Hub sit within a National Growth Area, as identified in Future Wales – The National Plan 2040 and as with all our projects, embrace the vision and values of the Well-being of Future Generations Act.

The renewable energy generated by Manmoel Wind could power rapid EV chargers to support emergency service vehicles, fleets, taxis and more throughout Blaenau Gwent and the surrounding area.

Whilst a bespoke building at the hub will attract businesses looking for green low-cost energy which will, in turn, create vital employment.

Engagement

Our application has been crafted by several years of considered engagement with local residents, Blaenau Gwent County Council and a number of local councils – Tredegar, Nantyglo and Blaina, Brynmawr, Argoed, Darren Valley, New Tredegar, Rhymney, Bargoed, Abertillery and Llanhilleth.

This engagement has included a series of brochure drops and in-person drop-in sessions, where members of the community could meet the CENIN team and raise any questions they had about the scheme.

These sessions were held at:

02.08.23 | Cwm Institute

09.08.23 | Orpheus Hall, Tredegar

12.10.23 | RTB Rugby Club, Ebbw Vale

Education

As part of our commitment to future generations, we’ve welcomed a number of local schools to our Parc Stormy site, where one of our sustainability experts has given them a guided tour and curriculum-based lesson. We cover the cost of transport for these free visits which will continue for the lifetime of the project.

You can find out more about our education work here.

We’re also delighted to support a number of organisations and clubs in the local community, ensuring that our projects bring tangible benefits to the areas in which they are built.

CENIN is a Bridgend-based, family-owned business, specialising in the development of integrated energy systems.

Through our innovative approach to building integrated renewable energy systems, we unlock greater potential to provide more value to local communities, increase wellbeing and ultimately leave Wales a better place for our future generations.
